New Office space in an Edwardian municipal building, the principal elevation is in distinctive red brick with extensive stone dressings, terracotta detailing and Westmorland slate roofs. Its most distinctive features are the two substantial four storey corner towers, each with shaped parapets and pyramidal roofs topped by ventilation cupolas. The original building served as municipal secondary school for girls, built in 1909. the building itself has a rich history and has been a major landmark in Stockport being utilised as a military hospital throughout WW1 and later as Stockport Art College. This beautiful listed building is a true testament to its original design by architects Cheers & Smith of Blackburn & Twickenham and the construction standing the test of time for all these years. The refurbishment will protect the structural beauty and offer workspace for generations to come.
